Photography Meets Film at the Columbia Museum of Art

Recently I’ve gotten into photography and am completely addicted. My new camera goes everywhere with me, and I always have my nose in a glossy, thick-paged photography book. My husband says I’m becoming a photography nerd … there’s probably some truth to that!
The
Columbia Museum of Art is the place to go for people who love any genre of the arts. On any day you can walk through the building and find concerts, films, lectures and, of course, all forms of visual arts. On July 15 my love of photography and my husband’s enthusiasm for film can be combined when we go to see an installment from the
Films from MoMA series, which will feature the work of
Duane Michals.
Michals is best known for his work in photo sequences that often examine philosophy and emotions. His work is often discussed alongside that of
Eadweard Muybridge, whose sequential photographs examining movement preceded Michals’ and was undoubtedly an influence. I can’t wait to take a closer look at this video by the man who is considered “a photographic master of mystic innuendo.” You won’t want to miss this if you are in town, either.
