If you head to Walterboro this weekend, you might just find that you can finish your holiday shopping early this year.

The S.C. Artisans Center will host its annual, juried Holiday Craft Show Friday and Saturday (Nov. 19-20,) featuring work by S.C. artists and crafts people. Admission to the show is free.

The Holiday Craft show is a natural fit for the S.C. Artisan Center, a year-round treasure trove of beautiful, S.C.-made gifts. The center’s mission is to “preserve and perpetuate” the state’s rich and diverse cultural heritage. Items for sale range from lovely, handcrafted wooden bowls to sweet grass baskets, painting, jewelry, pottery and more. Many of the pieces are inspired by the South Carolina landscape and palette. This time of year you also can find seasonal items like blown glass Christmas ornaments on sale.

While you are in Walterboro you might want to round out your shopping with a trip to the city’s historic downtown, where you will find more than a dozen antique shops. The Holiday Craft Show is set to coincide with Walterboro’s Downtown Open House. Almost every shop and restaurant in the historic downtown area will be offering deals, wine, treats and special drawings.

The S.C. Artisan Center, located at 318 Wichman St., is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. Click here for more information about the center or on the Holiday Craft Show.
