If you are heading to the Penn Center, you might drive a little bit further down Sea Island Parkway to a little dive called “The Shrimp Shack.”

This is no place for dieters, but this spot gets fried food right. Pick your food up at the window, grab a seat at one of the picnic tables and let the sun beat down. It’s summer vacation on a plate.

The specialty of the house is the Shrimp Burger, a delicious sandwich with a fried shrimp patty and tartar sauce that will run you $6.25. You can add a side of sweet potato sticks or fries for about a dollar.

The Shrimp Shack is located at 1925 Sea Island Parkway on St. Helena Island. You might want to stop by an ATM before you go; the Shack only takes cash or check.
