Beaufort's Sea Island Inn good choice with kids

is home to some wonderful inns and bed and breakfast options in the historic district.
But if you’re visiting with kids -- and want to stay within walking distance of downtown -- check out the Best Western Sea Island Inn
It might be a ’60s-style chain motel building, but the 43 rooms have been updated and renovated with all the conveniences a family needs (including a small refrigerator and microwave).
During our recent weekend stay, the staff couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating, the grounds were well-maintained and the complementary breakfast was more than the basic cold muffins and juice. Even the breakfast room was cozy, with a view of the bay.
And all of that is trumped by the location. It’s just across Bay Street from the water, with sweeping views of the marsh and Beaufort Bay. And it’s just a block or so to restaurants, shops and Beaufort’s waterfront park.
Worth a visit.
