It's time for fairs in South Carolina

October is typically fair season in South Carolina, but Greenville is getting an early start this year.
The Upper South Carolina State Fair runs through Sept. 11, offering all sorts of games, rides, attractions -- and fair food. Don't miss the rodeo, the demolition derby and a visit to the petting zoo.

The fair is between Greenville and Easley in the Upcountry, at U.S. 123 and S.C. 124.
And that's just the first of the fairs around the state this fall, with the big one -- the S.C. State Fair -- scheduled for Oct. 12-23 in Columbia. (We'll tell you more about that in the coming weeks.)

You can find a fair in nearly every corner of South Carolina. Here is a listing of some of them, with dates and links to websites for more information:

Sumter County Fair -- Sumter, Sept. 27-Oct. 2

Orangeburg County Fair -- Orangeburg, Oct 3-9.

Carolina Foothills Heritage Fair -- Fair Play, Oct. 4-8

Eastern Carolina Agricultural Fair -- Florence, Oct 5-15
