Who makes the most life-changing ribs ever?

Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ in Charleston, at least according to readers of Esquire

The magazine, in its Eat Like a Man column in July, asked readers to name their favorite ribs. Then readers were asked to vote for their favorite of the nine most frequently mentioned.

Home Team got 40 percent of the vote.

Fiery Ron is owner and executive chef Aaron Siegel. He opened Home Team BBQ six years ago on Ashley River Road, and a Sullivan’s Island location opened in May 2009.

Siegel, an Atlanta native, earned a culinary degree at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. He worked an internship at Nava in Atlanta for Chef Kevin Rathbun and later worked at Aspen, Colo., restaurants before coming to Charleston to become executive chef at Blossoms.

According to Esquire, “Home Team knows enough to slow-cook its ribs for five to six hours, using a signature dry rub that's also used on almost everything else.”

Both restaurants also feature live music.
