The pressure is really on for The Ordinary, Chef Mike Lata’s new Charleston restaurant expected to open in December 2012 or January 2013.

Even before it’s opened, Southern Living magazine has listed it as one of “50 reasons we’re thankful to be Southern” in its November issue.

Lata and partner Adam Nemirow are opening seafood and oyster restaurant. They also are the owners of FIG in Charleston, which has been one of the city’s most popular spots since it opened in 2003.

The Ordinary is opening at 544 King St. in an old bank building.

Another South Carolina place that Southern Living says is a reason to be thankful is GrowFood Carolina, which operates a Charleston food warehouse to take in produce from local farms and distribute it to retail markets and restaurants.
