Chef Steven Lusby of 82 Queen plans to take some Charleston charm to the James Beard House when he cooks there Dec. 4.

An invitation to cook in the kitchen of Beard’s Greenwich Village home is an honor for chefs.

Lusby’s menu includes appetizers of pickled shrimp, boiled peanut hummus and crispy chicken skin with cornbread waffles. Dinner selections include she-crab soup, crispy head cheese with black-eyed peas, pan-seared Carolina catch with toasted grits, pork osso buco and pecan pie sundae.

Lusby has been offering some of the dishes from his Beard dinner menu as specials at 82 Queen.

He’s also roasting oysters in the restaurant’s Garden Courtyard on most Thursday nights through Dec. 5. An oyster and bubbles cocktail reception on Dec. 13 will be finale of the weekly roasts.

Another Charleston area chef cooked at the Beard House Nov. 9. Chef Patrick Owens of Langdon’s and Opal, both of Mt. Pleasant, prepared a dinner that included tuna crudo with kimchi, May River oysters, South Carolina brown shrimp, South Carolina grouper and potato gnocchi.
