Larry the Cable Guy visited South Carolina recently to learn all about hogs and barbecue. You can check out his visit Tuesday night on “Larry & the Superpig” at 9 p.m. on the History Channel’s “Only in America.”

Larry, who is reported to be a super nice guy, visited Caw Caw Creek in St. Matthews and a barbecue with Dan "the pig man" Huntley in York.

Emile DeFelice, owner of Caw Caw Creek, said about 16 hours of filming for the show was done last June.

On the show, Larry visits places across the country to present the nation’s history in a slightly different way.

While Larry is known for his stand-up comedy routine and the History Channel show, he's best known as the fun-loving tow truck Mater in the Disney movies Cars and Cars 2.

At Caw Caw Creek, free-roaming, heirloom pigs are raised in pastures and forests. The farm’s name shows up on menus at fine restaurants across the countries.

Huntley, a former South Carolina-based columnist at The Charlotte Observer, was an owner and chef at Smoke in Blythewood. He is a master barbecue chef who cooks out of his river house on the Catawba and a very popular food truck. If you get an invitation to his place, by all means take it!
