It’s nearly four months until May 15-18 – the dates for the BMW Charity Pro-Am
, the Greenville area’s
annual Web.com Tour tournament – but it’s time for those interested in volunteering to work during the event to sign up. And for those planning to attend the tournament, tickets also went on sale on Jan. 31.
The BMW Charity Pro-Am, sponsored by the SYNNEX Corporation, is modeled on the PGA Tour’s AT&T National Pro-Am and features players from the developmental Web.com Tour
paired up with celebrities.
As an added bonus for the dozens of Upstate charities that benefit from the weeklong golf celebration, volunteers also can help raise funds for their favorite tournament-registered causes. Also, tickets sales by charities are a fund-raising program, as are sales of teams in the tournament’s one-day pro-am event.
Volunteers can earn $20 per day for the tournament charity of their choice. And if a charity recruits enough volunteers for 50 volunteer workdays, it receives a $2,500 bonus. Volunteers also can take advantage of the tournament’s “early bird” registration: All volunteers signing up before April 19 pay $40 ($50 after that date), which covers their uniform, credentials for volunteers and one guest each to attend the tournament, food and beverages during workdays and a volunteer celebration.
In addition, the BMW Charity Pro-Am will offer, for the first time, bonuses of 150 percent to charitable organizations that sell up to $10,000 in tickets. For example, charities that sell $10,000 in tickets will receive $15,000. Tickets eligible for the bonus contributions include Daily ($10), Patron ($25) and Clubhouse ($50) badges. Children 14 and under can attend free with a paying adult.
Finally, charities that sell (or purchase) four-person pro-am teams, which cost $7,000 per team, get to keep $5,000 per team. A charity that sells four teams (costing $28,000) keeps the entire amount of the fourth team, for a total of $22,000.
