Looking for a truly luxurious start for the New Year? The Inn at Palmetto Bluff
, home to the heralded May River Golf Club, has a “Winter Wonder” package guaranteed to pamper couples and provide a rare winter golf experience, all in one stay.
Until Feb. 29, getaway fans can enjoy a king-bed guest cottage, breakfast for two each morning at Buffalo’s – or in the cottage – and dinner for two one night in The Inn’s River House dining room or Canoe Club. The golfer in the family gets a round of golf at May River, the Jack Nicklaus design that opened in 2004 and has quickly earned ranking among South Carolina’s best courses.
The 7, 171-yard, par-72 Nicklaus Signature Course layout (rating of 75.6, slope of 141) features three par-3s, three par-4s and three par-5s on its back nine, and bunkers filled with sand from Nicklaus’ home state of Ohio (chosen for its angular grain, which adheres well to the course’s various sloped surfaces). The May River Forest, wide salt-water-resistant Paspalum fairways, natural waste areas, strategic bunkering and Champions Bermuda greens offer both visual beauty and playing challenges.
May River features a state-of-the-art practice facility, and caddie service is required, encouraging players to walk and enjoy the full experience.
The non-golfer can enjoy a 60-minute “classic massage” at the resort’s spa or a Palmetto Bluff Geo-caching Experience. If the weather’s too cold even for the avid golfer, couples have options of a four-hour Daufuskie Artisans & History Tour, or a private tour of nearby Savannah using one of The Inn’s Mercedes for transportation.
Rates for the Winter Wonder package start at $560 per night (double occupancy, two-night minimum stay). For information or to book a stay, call (866) 706-6565 or click here
