If you have missed the handful of farm tours this year, there still is time to catch one in Lancaster County
The Ag+Art Tour
is a two-day tour that lets you look at farm life of the past and present. And there will be plenty of art along the way.
A tour passport includes schedules of events at each the 23 sites. Pick yours up early at the Springs House, (803) 289-1492, 201 W. Gay St., Lancaster
, so you can map your trip. The passport also highlights restaurants serving locally grown produce along the tour route.
Historic sites include The Springs House, the Cultural Arts Center at the Olde Lancaster Presbyterian Church, Ivey Place (no relation to your SC Less Traveled Insider), Wade-Beckham House, Lancaster County Welcome Center & Museum, Andrew Jackson State Park, Kilburnie, the Inn at Craig Farm & Historic Craig House, and the Native American Studies Center.
You can sample some of what the local farms have to offer with a stop at Heath Springs Farm Stand, the Lancaster Community Garden, Provisions by Sandy Creek Herb Co. and Elginwood Farms, which will host an old-fashioned farm festival on Saturday.
For the art component, check out Bailey’s Pottery Studio, Chastain’s Studio Lofts and Bob Doster’s Backstreet Studio among the many artisans selling their crafts along the way.
The Ag+Art Tour is 9 a.m-5 p.m. Saturday (June 22) and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
The day before the tour will be a ticketed event at Ivey Place with Susan Vinson Sherlock’s summer music program, a picnic by Alexander & Co. Catering and tours of the historic home and gardens. For more information about this event, contact the Springs House at (803) 289-1492 or email email@example.com
