Greenville, Spartanburg and Columbia offer holiday ice skating

When it comes to winter fun, Rockefeller Center has nothing on Columbia’s Boyd Plaza, Greenville’s Village Green or Spartanburg’s Morgan Square. In the tradition of the Big Apple, all three South Carolina cities will be offering open-air ice skating during the holidays.

So, get ready to put on your woolies and make like Dorothy Hamill and Scott Hamilton.

Here are the details on each of the downtown rinks.

Columbia
Open: Nov. 22 to Jan. 2
Hours of operation: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Cost: $10 for adults, $8 for children 12 and younger. Active duty military personnel receive a $2 discount. All-day pass includes skate rental.
Location: Boyd Plaza at the Columbia Museum of Art, 1515 Main St.

Spartanburg
Open: Nov. 16-Jan.6
Hours of operation: 3 to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 3 to 11 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday; 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Cost: $10 for an all-day pass. Includes skate rental.
Location: Morgan Square at Church, Dunbar and West Main streets.

Greenville
Open: Nov. 23-Jan. 2
Hours of operation: 2 to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday from Nov. 23-Dec. 7; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday from Dec. 8-Jan. 6; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Cost: $10 for adults; $8 for children 12 and younger. All-day pass includes skate rental.
Location: Village Green adjacent to City Hall, 206 S. Main St.
