Explore Abbeville

About 20 miles south of Honea Path along S.C. 20 is a pearl of southern charm, Abbeville.

Long known for its stately opera house, which has been at the center of town since 1908, Abbeville’s charm has not been diminished by current economic hardships that are evident all along the Heritage Corridor.

Though venerable structures like The Belmont Inn, which pre-dates the Opera house by five years, is in transition, the town’s nearly 300 well-preserved buildings that fan out in all directions from the center of town are a history buff’s delight, particularly those interested in late Victorian architecture.

There’s no need to pack a lunch for a visit to Abbeville as restaurants abound in and around the historic district.
