In the 1920s, the Village of Hopkins was thriving with general stores, gin mills, industries, residences and a town hall. The South East Rural Community Outreach recreates a similar atmosphere for the holiday during the annual Holiday Taste & Tour. SERCO’s 6th Annual Holiday Taste & Tour promises to bring a unique special feature and a most memorable “Old Fashioned Christmas” to the historic “Village of Hopkins” site Saturday, Dec. 1 from noon until 4 p.m. The “Village of Hopkins” is located at 214 Hopkins Road, intersecting Lower Richland Boulevard, just 11 miles from Columbia.
Norfolk Southern Corporation has scheduled the Village of Hopkins to be one of only 15 stops on their Exhibit Car’s 30th Anniversary Tour! The Exhibit Car is a restored 1926 Pullman passenger car that was converted to a mobile museum in 1971. The FREE tours through the train will offer display models of locomotives, historical information, flat-screen monitor images, interactive challenge games, photo booth, locomotive simulator, and much more. The Village of Hopkins is one of only two stops in South Carolina.
