The Monticello Golf Course is a 7,032 yard course along South Carolina’s “Freshwater Coast” set within the 4,000-acre lakefront sporting community of Savannah Lakes VIllage nestled in 63,368 acres of national forest land and state parks along the 70,000 acre Lake Thurmond (also known as Clarks Hill Lake).
The Monticello Golf Course is a modern links course with fewer trees, rolling topography and a lot more water! The course stretches 7,032 yards from the championship tees and features bent grass greens, zoysia collars and bermuda fairways/rough. Water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes, which includes a dramatic lakefront peninsula midway through the front nine. Monticello is home to the National Golf Association's Pro Golf Tour’s premiere event, which visits the golf club in late April each year for the "Savannah Lakes Village Classic."
The Monticello Golf Club, and its two neighboring courses of Hickory Knob and Tara, are three “must play” lakefont courses in western South Carolina.
