Have you always wanted to camp, but were never sure exactly where to start? What type of tent should I get? How do I build a campfire? Where can I go? If you've asked yourself these questions or others like them, then join us at Sesquicentennial State Park for the Great American Backyard Campout! Camp with a park ranger and have guided instruction for pitching your tent, building a campfire, camp cooking, and more. Apply to be one of the lucky families to join us for an overnight campout in the park's campground and learn these skills along with many more to make your camping experience a fantastic and fun one!
Campers will have the opportunity to attend a variety of demonstrations, workshops and programs to learn more about camping and other activities to do while camping.
Activities available may include guided nature walks, geocaching, fishing, canoeing, camping games, and more.
To apply, please fill out the application and submit by e-mail, mail or fax by the deadline indicated on the application. Overnight spaces are limited and families will be notified if their application has been accepted.
This event is held in conjunction with the Great American Backyard Campout sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation.
