Total Solar Eclipse 2017

Musgrove Mill State Historic Site will be offering a Solar Eclipse Experience on August 21, 2017. A total eclipse is when the full moon lines up with the sun and earth, blocking the sun’s light. Musgrove Mill State Historic Site is in the path of totality for the eclipse. The totality time period at this location will begin at 2:39 pm and will last 2 minutes and 9 seconds. The partial phase will begin at 1 pm. We will offer a program involving several stations where you can learn about the sun, the solar system and the eclipse. This program is available by pre-registration and admission to the program will be charged. This admission charge will provide you with a reserved parking space, a pair of viewing glasses, several ranger guided activities to participate in while waiting, and the opportunity to view the eclipse from the porch of the Visitor Center. Park grounds will be open for general viewing on August 21, 2017 from 9 am to 6 pm, and will have several good viewing areas. A limited number of viewing glasses will also be for sale in the park store. There is limited parking available at Musgrove Mill State Historic Site. Access to the site may be closed when parking becomes full, and preregistered program attendees will have reserved parking. This program will not be held in the event of inclement weather or clouds which preclude viewing the eclipse.
