Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum

Housed in a 1924 converted beach cottage, the Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum is dedicated to being one of the finest visual arts museums in the Carolinas. The Art Museum strives to engage the community and visitors through unique exhibitions and interactive, educational and creative programs for people of all ages. The Art Museum offers a variety of exhibitions, changing every three to four months, an extensive permanent collection of regional artwork and historical maps, and a fine arts resource library. The Art Museum is also home to an extensive KidsArt program, with Saturday Art Adventures for ages 5 – 12 and a Teen Art Program (TAP) for ages 13-18 offered September through April along with a monthly Mommy & Me class for ages 2-4. During the Art Museum’s summer exhibitions, the KidsArt program offers Summer KidsArt Camps and free group tours inspired by the exhibition. All year, tea and cookies are available on the tea porch which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. The Museum Gift Shop features work by local artisans. Docent tours are available for groups of six or more upon request. The Art Museum also hosts several Free Family Days, celebrating events like Dia de los Muertos and Chinese New Year, annually, along with several annual fundraisers, lectures, events and much more!
