Charleston St. Patrick's Day Parade

Welcome back to South Carolina's biggest and best St. Patrick's Day Parade. Metro Charleston celebrates the holy day in a traditional manner. The day begins at 8:00 am with a celebratory mass at St. Patrick's Church. The parade along with its thousands of participants and watchers begins at 10:00 am sharp at King and Radcliffe Streets and proceeds down King to Broad with the conclusion at the Cathedral of St. Johns. The parade includes local schools, step dancers, fiddlers, fire trucks, military units, local pro team mascots and some of the Lowcountry's most famous Irish residents. But that's not all, there's much more activities around town both day and night. Activities include the annual Tri-Color Flag Raising at City Hall and the singing of the Irish national anthem at 11:30 am. The Knights of Columbus prepares a traditional American Irish boiled lunch (corn beef and the fixings) and don't forget about the show with bag pipers and step dancers. The College of Charleston's Irish studies has various events through out the week of St. Patrick's Day. Various downtown Irish establishments and some just trying to be for the day entertain some of Charleston's most famous Irish Citizens. Sullivan's Island entertains many of East Cooper's favorite Irish residents at Dunleavy's.
