Charleston Antiques Show

Entering its second decade, the celebrated Charleston Antiques Show, March 21-23, 2014 with the Preview Party March 20, is the most prestigious antiques show in the region. Approximately 30 dealers from across the United States offer for sale an extraordinary range of fine and decorative arts representing a array of styles and periods including American, English, and Continental furniture, silver, ceramics, glass, jewelry, rugs, textiles, paintings, and prints. The Show provides established collectors and first-time buyers, dealers, and design professionals with opportunities to view and purchase exceptional pieces. The show is held in the striking Memminger Auditorium, 56 Beaufain Street, in the historic Harleston Village neighborhood, one of Charleston’s earliest suburbs. The auditorium is only a block from Charleston’s famed “antiques district” on King Street and near the Old City Market. Constructed circa 1938, scholars have recognized the building’s debt of design to the work of Charleston’s most famous native-born architect, Robert Mills, particularly due to the inset Doric columns on the portico. Fully restored, the auditorium is a sought-after local venue and the site of countless prestigious cultural events held annually. Guests can develop their eye for antiques by attending a Behind-the-Scenes Tour, a Study Tour with the Curator of Historic Charleston Foundation, attending the Preview Party or by joining the exclusive Collectors Circle. In addition to the Antiques Show, you also have the opportunity to attend the 67th annual spring Festival of Houses and Gardens, March 20-April 19, 2014, which offers guests rare access into some of Charleston’s finest private houses and gardens inThe cornerstone of the spring Festival are the daily house and garden tours. This series of award-winning tours provide an extraordinary opportunity for guests to go inside the private houses and gardens of some of America's most beautiful residences, some dating to t
