Jam Room Music Festival

South Carolina's Biggest Free Music Party Features Blonde Redhead on Oct. 3, 2015!

Alt-rockers Blonde Redhead will headline the fourth annual Jam Room Music Festival, to be held at Main and Hampton Streets in Columbia, S.C., on Oct. 3 from noon to 10 p.m. They’ve spent the past two decades refining an entrancing sound as rich as New York’s sprawling range of noise rock, indie and experimental bands.

This year’s event, comprising 12 bands on two stages, also features Hiss Golden Messenger. This Durham, N.C., outfit merges the songwriting of frontman M.C. Taylor with alt-country and rock sounds to momentous effect. A Mississippi native who now lives in Nashville, Cory Branan has been called “too punk for country, too country for punk,” but either way, his infectious music and catchy hooks are sure to please. Other featured artists include Charlotte’s Junior Astronomers and Patois Counselors, and Charletston’s Grace Joyner.

A strong contingent of S.C. acts always underpins the JRMF, and this year is no different. The Distributors burst onto the scene earlier this year with their brand of no-frills, blues-based rock. Colorblind recently released their folk-hop debut recorded at Columbia’s Boom Room recording studio. Add the rousing gospel of Reverend Matthew Mickens and the New Highway Travelers, the gritty rock ‘n’ roll of Debbie and The Skanks, and the folk stylings of She Returns from War and Stefanie Santana to all that, and there’s going to be something for everyone.

Once again, the Jam Room Music Festival is proud to bring the biggest FREE music party in S.C. to the streets of Columbia. For more information about the FREE Jam Room Music Festival, visit jamroommusicfestival.com.
