Midlands
The featured chefs of the Midlands are an eclectic group with diverse backgrounds from around the world, but they all share a passion for crafting delicious food.
Chef Patty Griffey’s belief in honest food filled with flavor has brought her from humble beginnings to leading The Dining Room at Abingdon Manor to its AAA Four Diamond Restaurant award, while Executive chef Barry “Fatback” Walker has been featured in several national publications for his authentic Southern cuisine.
Top chefs Fulvio Valsecchi and Raffaele Dall’erta were both born in Italy, where they received formal training before taking their distinctive styles to the Midlands of South Carolina. Husband and wife team, Kay General and Steve Elliott didn’t have to travel quite as far to set up the General Elliott Inn in Thoroughbred Country, where guests are welcomed with Southern hospitality and luxurious comfort.
Nestled between the mountains and the Atlantic coast, the top chefs of the Midlands offer a wide array of culinary expertise. With all this dining diversity in one region, you’re never far from satisfying whatever craving strikes you.
