Shop for Gifts at Carolina Foothills Artisan Center

Carolina Foothills Artisan Center.

There are a couple of people on my Christmas shopping list who just seem to have everything. This year, I decided to pass up the mall and head to the Carolina Foothills Artisan Center in Chesnee in search of the perfect gift.

The 2000-square-foot, juried gallery space and shop features the work of established and emerging artists and artisans from the Carolinas.

There were plenty of great gift-giving possibilities. David Bower's turned wood writing pens would make great presents for the man in your life, as would Ross Tyser's hand-forged knives.

I loved Columbia's Fran Bartlett's beautifully colorful glass plates and was equally charmed by Leslie Sinclair's fused glass jewelry. Debbie Wilson's carved gourds featured whimsical and seasonally appropriate elves.

Before you wrap up your shopping spree, make sure and check out the pottery by Rosa and Winton Eugene. Their celebrated pottery and expressive face jugs are prized collectors' items and the couple even has a piece in the Smithsonian Institute.

The Carolina Foothills Artisan Center is located at 124 West Cherokee Street in Chesnee and is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
