The Sweet Potato Pepper Mustard is one of four artisan mustards made by Nancy and Jerry Novak of North Myrtle Beach. Their specialty foods company, Simply Southern Gourmet, also makes Roasted Peach Mango Pepper Mustard, Roasted Pineapple Cranberry Pepper Mustard and Balsamic Sweet Onion Pepper Mustard.
I got the chance to sample all four and wrote about them earlier this year. If you’ve also tasted them, you can understand why they made The Gourmet Retailer’s best new product list. About 70 products were chosen from about 500 entries, according to the trade magazine.
Here’s part of what the judges had to say: “Sweet potatoes are one of the most flavorful and nutritious superfoods around, so we were intrigued to try them in mustard form. What a delicious surprise! The rich, sweet flavor of the sweet potato works perfectly with the tangy mustard and the subtle heat from the fresh peppers.”
The mustards are all natural, gluten free, fat free, low sugar, low salt and Certified South Carolina.
