Olde English District

Charming Ridgeway is an historic small town located in the South Carolina Midlands in lower Fairifield County. Originally known as New Town, Ridgeway obtained its present name when the railroad decided to build a route on the "ridge way" spurring the growth of the town. The old police station which now houses the Visitor’s Center provides walking tour brochures which feature the history of the homes, buildings and other information. Ridgeway’s Century House served as headquarters for Confederate General Beauregard after the fall of Columbia to Sherman’s army.
