Town of Calhoun Falls

Calhoun Falls is located on Lake Russell, one of South Carolina's most popular fishing lakes. Lake Russell is a 26,650-acre lake that is an excellent place to fish for bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish and others. The town was named after the Calhoun family, one of first families to settle here in the 1700's. The town grew due to the railroad and textile mill located in here. Calhoun Falls State Recreation Area is located here on Lake Russell, offering lakeside camping, as well as a hiking trail, picnic area, tennis court and seasonal swimming area.
