Eastover sits in the southeastern part of Richland County, approximately twenty miles from Columbia and four miles from the Wateree River. It was founded in 1880 and named because it lies over to the east of the Congaree River.
Tours are held at the nearby Kensington Mansion, an Italianate Revival house that was completed in 1854. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
