Beaufort's Shrimp Festival is a favorite event that celebrates Lowcountry cuisine and incorporates fun activities for all ages. Local restaurants offer samples of Lowcountry dishes featuring shrimp. Prizes are awarded for "best recipe" and "most creative recipe" honors. Highlights of the event include: Friday evening concert in the park featuring live entertainment and yummy shrimp with lighted shrimp boats providing the backdrop for the event. Saturday's festivities begin with a 5k Bridge Run/Walk over Woods Memorial Bridge. Restaurants prepare delicious shrimp specialties to the delight of the large crowds that attend the event each year. Saturday's events also include, arts & crafts, live entertainment, a special race for kids (the "Popcorn Shrimp Race"), food and drinks. In a nutshell: Enjoy Lowcountry traditions and cuisine and dance under the stars.
