Fishing Creek Reservoir

Fishing Creek Reservoir is a 1,937 acre man-made lake along the Catawba River. Locally the dam is also known as "Nitrolee" because of a factory it formerly supplied with power. The lake and dam are operated by Duke Power Company. Public access to Fishing Creek Reservoir is through several public boat ramps. The tail race area, below the dam is well-known for its variety and numbers of bird life, viewable from SC Hwy. 200.
