Town Clock

Winnsboro Town Clock is the oldest continuously running clock in the US. Circa 1833 Built originally as a market it has served as fire house, community meeting room and home of the Fairfield County Chamber on the second floor from 1947 until 2011. The bell was used to notify the public of opening of the market, fire, and approaching Union troops. The clock mechanism was converted to electricity in the 1970s. The bell which came from France in the 1830s. The building is not accessible to the public.
