Columbia Marionette Theatre

As one of the premiere children's theatres in the state, our mission is to entertain and educate children and their families throughout South Carolina with the long-standing tradition and artistry of marionette puppetry. The theatre can accommodate as many as 250 children and adults per performance and is completely accessible to the physically challenged. Puppets, ranging from The Little Mermaid at 12 inches to Aladdin's Genie at close to 5 feet, appear on a 30-foot stage. All productions are created entirely in house -- the script is written, the puppets are made, the soundtrack is recorded and the sets are painted. With 4 full time staff members, each production takes several months to create from start to finish. Productions range from folk tales and fairy tales and classic stories, to science and historical fiction.
