The Dupont Planetarium is housed at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center on the campus of USC-Aiken. The 45-seat theater has a 30-foot diameter tilted dome and uses a Sky-Skan automation system to control video, still images and other special video effects. The centerpiece of the theater is a Digistar II graphics projector system that displays more than 9,000 stars down to the eighth magnitude. Two large sundials, a variety of telescopes and the only known camera obscura that displays real time images on a planetarium dome complement the facility. Shows are 1st and 3rd Friday & Sat. of each month at 7pm & 8pm. We also offer an Early Bird Special with lower ticket price and first Saturday of each month 4 & 5 pm.
