The Upcountry

Chapman Cultural Center is a three-building cultural campus bringing together the performing and visual arts, science, and history in a variety of hands-on interactive exhibits, art and dance studios, and an intimate 500-seat proscenium theater centered around a public plaza. Designed by nationally acclaimed architect David M. Schwarz, the buildings contain interactive science exhibits for children as well as live reptiles in the Science Center; permanent and touring international art exhibits in the Spartanburg Art Museum; local and regional artist exhibits in the Artists' Guild of Spartanburg Gallery; and hands-on displays and exhibits focusing on Spartanburg's rich history in the Spartanburg Regional History Museum. Classes and camps are also offered at various times throughout the year in science, history, dance, theatre, and art.
