The PAIA Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation was recognized by the state of South Carolina as a tribe on June 19, 2015. The PAIALECNSC is the only Recognized Cherokee Tribe in South Carolina. Our Chief is Chief Mary Louise Worthy. Our tribal office, a Cherokee Living Village, a museum, and a craft store are located on 6 acres of land in Gray Court. Our 12th Annual Pow Wow Honoring First Chief Howard White Bull Norris will take place on Saturday, September 28th from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. There will be drumming and dancing, Luck of the Draw dance contest (must be in regalia), flute playing, story telling, handmade crafts, games, raffles, and Indian fry bread.
