The museum is located at 14 Airport Road Extension next to the Runway Café, the Runway Park Playground, and within a block of the future Swamp Rabbit Trail Extension – an ideal location to engage the Upstate community, honor our veterans, and provide easy and convenient access for students, teachers, veterans and their families, and the public to view historical military artifacts, vehicles, field equipment, insignias and uniforms. Organized in 2009, the MHCC is a 501-C3 tax exempt organization and a non-profit corporation in the state of South Carolina. In addition to the museum, the MHCC participates in events throughout the Upstate that support its mission.
In 2019, 3,800 visited the museum and the MHCC supported seventy (70) separate events including programs at national parks, schools, colleges, veteran's groups, churches, cities/counties, and other non-profit organizations. The MHCC Museum and Education Center is a place where people can see history first-hand and also make connections with veterans who defended our country and protected our way of life.
Many of the volunteers working at the museum are veterans and readily share their experiences. Visitors can view military memorabilia from the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam up to the present. There are also ‘touch tables’ for younger children where they can put on uniforms and helmets and have their picture taken in a jeep. The museum is currently open on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm and Sundays from 12 pm to 4 pm. For special events/openings, please contact the MHCC at email@example.com. There is no admission; however, donations are welcome at the museum and/or at ‘GoFundMe’ [search MHCC].
