The Okra Strut had its humble beginnings as a fundraiser by the Lake Murray - Irmo Women’s Club to raise money for a new library. Today, it is the largest and longest running celebration of okra in the United States.
Celebrating its 46th year, the festival kicks off on Friday night with a street dance. Saturday's festivities begin with the Okra Strut Parade at 9 a.m. (South Carolina's largest parade!). Other activities include musical entertainment, carnival rides, an okra eating contest, arts & crafts vendors, children's activities and festival food. And a major headline act on Saturday night. Stay tuned for announcements!
Free parking and shuttle service available. Locations TBA on our festival website www.okrastrut.com
Irmo is conveniently located only 12-miles outside of Columbia, right off of I-26 at exit 102A. Make your plans to join the fun!
