Now when you've got a craving for food grown close to home, you've got an app for that.
The Fresh on the Menu app lets you find South Carolina's Fresh on the Menu restaurants or farms where you can buy fresh produce.
It's available to download on iPads, iPhones or Android devices 4.0 and higher.
On the app, you can go to four tabs for information:
* Restaurants to help you find places to eat that feature South Carolina foods.
* Chefs to tell you about the people who are preparing the food in those restaurants.
* Recipes for some favorites from great restaurants that you can make at home.
* Roots for a listing of South Carolina farms, produce companies and breweries.
The S.C. Department of Agriculture released the free app in early June. The department began the Fresh on the Menu program in 2008. Restaurant partners agree that their menus will be made up of at least 25 percent Certified South Carolina Grown foods and products. More than 300 South Carolina restaurants participate.
