If you enjoy the outdoors and like staying active, Orangeburg won't disappoint.

A must-see on your itinerary should be Edisto Memorial Gardens, with its award-winning roses and ancient cypress stands along the beautiful Edisto River. Be sure to visit the Home Wetland Park, featuring a 2,600-foot boardwalk that takes visitors into a typical tupelo-cypress wetland ecosystem.

Skate 698, one of the oldest skating rinks in the Southeastern United States, features its original maple flooring. The rink offers a full pro shop to help you find the perfect pair of skates. Lace ‘em up, jump out on the floor and jam to the sound system with 16 speakers to pump up the volume!

Orangeburg County Aquatic Park shares space with the Orangeburg YMCA and has a lazy river, two family fun slides, a bowl slide with a plunge pool, a zero-depth pool, children’s play area and a toddler pool with a slide.

Golfers will enjoy Hillcrest Golf Club, rated one of the top municipal courses in the Carolinas. An 18-hole championship course designed by architect Russell Breeden, this course is fun for all skill levels.

Once you’ve played Hillcrest, take the short drive over to nearby Santee and check out more great golf courses and the beautiful Lake Marion, the state’s largest lake.
