Visitors to Isle of Palms will quickly settle into the IOP "State of Mind." Just set up a chair or blanket on the beach. Chill out and catch some rays or grab a skimboard or surfboard and head to the water. On this island retreat, there's no shortage of ways to have fun outdoors.

Here are some places to add to your itinerary.

Isle of Palms County Beach Park
This park offers beautiful ocean frontage with lifeguards on duty seasonally along a designated swimming area. It also features boardwalks with accessible ramps, beach chair and umbrella rentals, a dressing area, restrooms, a sand volleyball court, outdoor showers and a picnic area with grills.

Frisbee Golf Course
The 18-hole layout winds around the Isle of Palms Recreation Center. Start at the black mailbox by the bike rack and follow the red flags. The mailbox contains pencils, scorecards and a course map. Equipment can be checked out at the front desk.

Golf
Wild Dunes offers two fantastic golf courses—the Links Course and Harbor Course—designed by Tom Fazio. Both are open for public play and offer a great golf challenge. Fazio’s first design, the Links Course is a great example of Lowcountry golf with a challenging finishing hole overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The Harbor Course is all about water, from marshes and lagoons to the Intercostal Waterway. This course will leave you with great memories.
