With the largest shopping center in the area and an eclectic collection of locally owned stores, Bluffton offers something for everyone, whether you’re looking for gifts to take home to friends and family or just an afternoon of retail therapy.

Serious shoppers will want to hit up Tanger Outlet Center, a large, outdoor mall with two complexes located a mile apart. Among the 90-plus stores are popular brands like Michael Kors, Tommy Bahama, Banana Republic, The North Face, Under Armour, Brooks Brothers, Nike and Adidas.

For unique finds, take a stroll through Downtown Bluffton, a hub for the funky and eccentric. Here are some of the shops you won’t want to miss:

The Store – Located on Calhoun Street in a one-story house built in 1904, The Store has been a Bluffton landmark for more than 40 years, selling one-of-a-kind items from the divine to the fanciful.

The Storybook Shoppe – This sweet little children’s book store is owned by a former substitute teacher and avid collector of children’s books. The handpicked inventory includes lots of award-winning and educator-recommended books, along with unique toys and coloring books.

Bluffton General Store – A modern take on the old general store, this inviting shop features gifts, candles, local art, coastal-inspired home decor and so much more.

Eggs 'n' Tricities – You could spend hours in this fun shop perusing the clothing, jewelry, gifts, painted furniture pieces, funny cards, hand-painted signs, vintage lamps and artwork by local painter Margaret Golson Pearman who specializes in oysters, crabs and other Lowcountry-inspired subjects.

Bluffton Farmers Market – The weekly community event pops up along Calhoun Street in Old Town Bluffton every Thursday afternoon. In addition to locally grown produce, flowers and plants, the market features baked goods, fresh pasta and bread, chocolates and sweets, delicious food and live entertainment.

The Haven Boutique – If you’re looking for stylish women’s apparel that’s both casual and sophisticated, check out this store in the new Promenade in Old Town. The carefully curated selection of clothing and wares includes designers and brands such as Ellison, Parker and Hyde, Fairchild Baldwin and Citizens of Humanity.

Cocoon – This is another specialty women’s store located on Promenade Street in Old Town Bluffton. Here you’ll find everything from beautiful towels and custom bedding to chic shoes and handbags.

The Scottish Mill Shop – As the name implies, this shop features Scottish clothing and accessories, including custom kilts, hats and gloves, sweaters and cardigans, socks, ties and scarves. There are also gifts, jewelry, blankets and throws, music and books, and even British foods!
