John Rutledge, signer of the Constitution of the U.S., built his Charleston home on Broad Street in 1763. His home is one of only 15 residences belonging to those signers to survive. Lovingly restored to a bed and breakfast in 1989, this historic inn offers guests elegant rooms in the original grand residence or charming rooms in one of the inn’s two carriage houses. Complimentary amenities include breakfast, afternoon tea, evening sherry or port and wireless internet access. The hotel is dog-friendly. The John Rutledge House is a AAA Four Diamond property, National Historic Landmark and charter member of Historic Hotels of America.
