Artistry extends into all aspects of Sarah Dake’s life and that includes in the kitchen. While she’s handy with a sketch pad and paintbrush, the plate is her daily canvas of choice when she creates mouthwatering dishes at Greenville’s Limoncello. As executive chef of this Italian-inspired restaurant, Dake turns out works of art in the form of house-made pastas, mozzarella, pizzas and more.

Approach

Savoring food and life—both are key elements of Dake’s chef philosophy. While she leads her team in the kitchen, she also infuses her work with a sense of fun, having developed an easy camaraderie between herself and her staff. The good vibes and culinary expertise translate beautifully on the plate through dishes such as linguine pescatore, chicken marsala and brunch favorite eggs in a nest.

Backstory

A Columbia native, Dake graduated from the Culinary Institute at Greenville Technical College in 2015. That same year, she was recognized by the faculty for her exemplary work and received a Tourism Student Award from the South Carolina Travel and Tourism Coalition. Her culinary skills, particularly where Italian cuisine is concerned, were further honed during time spent in Italy studying at the Florence University of Arts. Other kitchen experience includes six years at El Burrito in Columbia and two years mastering the art of cake decorating. She also garnered catering experience with Greenbrier Farms in Easley.
