In a college town like Columbia, there are plenty of establishments catering to appetites at all hours of the day and night. Visitors to the capital city might find that navigating the late-night dining landscape is not so clear-cut. No worries! Here is a sampling of some tried-and-true hotspots for night-time noshing to suit a wide range of tastes.
Bar None
620 Harden Street (803) 254-3354 Open 4 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Monday through Friday; open 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday
Bar None is a staple haunt of the late-night capital city crowd. Barbecue sammies, smothered fries and other delectable munchies are devoured into the wee hours of the morning. By far, the tasty smoked wings available every other Tuesday are an overwhelming fan favorite.
Beezer’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop
919 Sumter Street (803) 771-7771 Open 11 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Saturday; noon to midnight on Sunday
Since 1998, Beezer’s has been serving hefty subs to hungry college kids and nighttime revelers. All your favorites are here: house-made chicken salad, roast beef, turkey, tuna salad and more. Extra hungry? Try the Godfather, a two-fisted hero layered with Genoa salami, capicola, ham, provolone and your favorite accouterments.
Eddie’s Calzones
817 Harden Street (803) 764-3669 Open 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 a.m. on Sunday
Got a middle-of-the-night craving for something savory? Then Eddie’s Calzones is the place for you. Satisfy the hungries with wings, pizza or the specialty of the house—ooey, gooey, calzones stuffed with the goodies of your choice.
Jack Brown’s Columbia
711 Harden Street (803) 708-6049 Open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Tuesday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Wednesday
Juicy burgers offered with an eclectic lineup of toppings are the calling card of Jack Brown’s. Sink your teeth into an Elvis (peanut butter and bacon), the Greg Brady (mac and cheese and barbecue chips) the Popeye (spinach-artichoke dip, pepper jack, fried onions) and many more. Your imagination is the only limit.
The Grand
1621 Main Street (803) 766-0151 Open 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday; 9 a.m. to midnight on Sunday
Operating in a former theater, The Grand is an intriguing, historic spot for dining as well as bowling and games in the back of the venue. Snuggle up in a cozy, retro-style booth and order something delicious from the late-night menu: quesadillas, loaded fries, calamari, wings and more.
