From the 51-mile Little River Blueway to Lake Thurmond in Hickory Knob State Resort Park, discover an array of paddling experiences in the Old 96 District.

Lake Greenwood State Park, Ninety Six

Lake Greenwood State Park povides access to Lake Greenwood, an 11,400-acre reservoir that offers boating and fishing year-round.

Time your trip around sunrise, when the mist rises off the lake and creates an enchanted atmosphere. The flat, calm cove around Souls Harbor is a perfect place for beginners to gain experience.

Palmetto Pines Outfitters, McCormick

Save the trip and have a kayak or paddleboard brought to you to maximize your paddling time on Strom Thurmond Reservoir, where you’ll explore tributaries, traverse wide-open waters and soak up 1,200 miles of forested shoreline.

Another paddling hot spot on the vast Strom Thurmond Reservoir, you can rent your watercraft right from the park, which is also home to lodge-style rooms, a golf course, restaurant and hiking and biking trails.

Little River Blueway, McCormick

With 51 miles of water trails, the blueway carries you past farmland, under bridges and through gentle eddies and springs. Look out for flora and fauna like trumpet creepers, jewelweed, belted kingfishers, blue herons, river otters and beavers.
