Discover some of the exciting outdoor adventures that await you in South Carolina. From mountain biking and trail running through the Upstate to whitewater rafting down the Chattooga River, there's plenty of exciting outdoor activities for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Whitewater Rafting + Zip Lining on the Chattooga River

South Carolina's Chattooga River, a free-flowing whitewater river, begins in the Appalachian Mountains and runs all the way to Lake Tugaloo. Spanning more than 50 miles, this world-class whitewater river is one of the longest free-flowing rivers in the Southeastern Unites States.

If you're looking for a whitewater outfitter, be sure to check out Wildwater based out of Long Creek, South Carolina. Their guides are seasoned and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the rapids on the Chattooga.

Wildwater also offers zip lining and canopy tours for those interested in an adventure on dry land. Take in some of South Carolina's most scenic views as you glide through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Fly past trees that overlook the Chattooga River Valley, and on a clear day you can even see the Great Smoky Mountains.

Mountain Biking + Trail Running at Paris Mountain

Other exciting outdoor adventures to enjoy in South Carolina include mountain biking and trail running. Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville offers 15 miles of trails for bikers and runners to enjoy, making it the perfect place to spend a vigorous day outdoors.

If you're looking for an extended adventure, you can camp out at Paris Mountain. Their top-rated facilities include paved campsites and tent pads. You can even stay at one of the trailside campsites around the North Lake Trail Loop.

There are four raceways at Carolina Adventure World for visitors to enjoy: a 300-foot drag strip, the Pocono raceway with three banked turns, a one-mile motocross-style track and a vintage Enduro course with 10-miles of single-track, dirt-bike only trails that lead to the "Top of the World," the highest spot between Columbia and Charlotte.

For a motor-based adventure on the water, try motor boating at Lake Jocassee. With breathtaking views and plenty of wildlife to observe, Lake Jocassee is a natural gem of South Carolina.
